Why Congress is so obsessed with dynasty despite clear understanding of their imminent death..?

I am trying not to be satiric and this purely a serious discussion. It quite puzzles millions of Indians as to why the members, leaders, active workers , the seva dal workers of Congress party etc are so obsessed with the dynastic rule in Congress at their own peril..? Rahul Gandhi has been around for more than a decade now in active politics. His mother who was a de facto the doyen and uncrowned queen of Indian Polity has systematically and methodically nurtured her ambition to anoint her own son, knowing fully well that he is not at all fit for this job. She would be able to complete her dream of seeing her son being at the helm of the party affairs very soon. It could be a matter of few weeks if not days.. But what bothers me as also to the millions is what is wrong with the party at all..? A party headed and guided by the leading lights like Annie Besant, Gopalkrishna Gokhale, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Pattabhi Sitaramaih, Mk Gandhi,, Subhash Chandra Bose etc and a party which gave able administrators and leaders like Lal Bahadur Shastri, Vallabh Bhai Patel, etc and even very recently leaders like Dev Raj Aras, Sharad Pawar (ignoring their corrupt practices, of course for this discussion) has come to the level of taking upon itself a thrust “leader” with ZERO leadership qualities, analytical abilities, education, sophistication in public discourse etc and to say the least, even common sense..!!!. Even at the worst times for the congress, they have many a able leaders, to name a few , P Chidamabram, Kapil Sibal, Veerappa Moily from the senior wrung and Sachin Pilot, Milind Deora from the next generation.. Why does the party collectively decide to give a tough reliable opposition party by appointing an able leader at the top..? A healthy democracy requires a strong and able opposition party with able leaders. As of now there is no leader worth his salt to give tough fight to Modi, except that the Supreme court is playing this role by dubious interference in good governance
